To be safe and healthy whilst at work is not just a matter of compliance with legislation but is the right of every employee, sub-contractor and member of the public affected by our business. Although awareness & practices have improved dramatically in the last 20 years, the construction industry continues to suffer too many injuries & fatalities.
HDR Group are acutely aware of the dangers and continually strive to achieve the highest standards in all matters relating to the health, safety and welfare of our employees and anyone else affected by our work. Apart from compliance with relevant legislation appropriate to the work we are undertaking, we operate a ‘safety culture’ in which every employee & contractor is aware of their own responsibility for both themselves and those around them.
This safety culture is generated and re-enforced through:
- New employee inductions in to our Health & Safety culture, policy & manual
- Site specific inductions to all new visitors
- All operatives hold CSCS cards
- Personal protective equipment
- Job specific risk assessments
- Plans of work
- On-going training reviews
HDR Group employ a third party company to act as Health & Safety advisors, to audit our procedures, assess our personnel and drive improvement.
